Apparently there are Beer Festivals at both the Fat Cat (£5 entry, marquee in back garden) and the New Barrack Tavern (not many details apart from proceeds to the Children's Hospital).

Anyone up for either of these for a change?

I've been to both over the last couple of days. Fat Cat one is good (except for food which is rubbish). The marquee takes up the whole yard and has a beer menu that probably stretches to triple figures. The "half pint" measures are very generous too ;o)

NBT is pretty much normal Friday, but with a few extra beers.

You're right though, pubs are OK when you're not drinking; actual beer festivals are not really worth the bother...
