Once again, LJ slipped down the list of to-do, though it's wild that I haven't posted since April. Wrote loads of fiction over the summer, spent the fall immersed in teaching. Enjoying both, except for the miasma of student apathy. Can't truly blame them; many would be working instead if there were decent career options without college. So I try

When I was in school, I always liked professors who cared about motivating their students rather than just going through the motions. I had no trouble motivating myself as an undergrad or grad student because I liked History and Philosophy.
The problem was finding a job in either of fields.
I went into law to get a job. The classes had not interest to me,but the people were great. Looking back at my college years they were the best times I ever had.

Keep up the good work. They need more teacher like you who are trying to motivate the students.
