Even if you don't know SPSS, you can insist that you learn fast and that training wouldn't be a waste of time. Employers are more willing is employ someone who is kind, motivated and always wanting to learn much more than someone who thinks they know everything and a jerk. They won't find it a waste of time at all if you can convince them that even if it is 6 months, it will be an enjoyable and productive 6 months with you working for them.

Experience is only half of what's needed in looking for a job, the other half is confidence in yourself. Your lucky that you are in California where there are tons of opprotunities for jobs (compared to Michigan). I would suggest to go ahead and get the CA license, if worse comes to worse you can always change it if you need to move.

I agree with Heidi. You pick things up quickly, so go for it.

And I don't think any major is stupid. Finding a job with a liberal arts degree is the worst, and even if you find something decent, there's no job stability right now. Good luck and I hope you get this job.

Liebe!
