i own high fidelity on VHS, great movie of course. and i had The Clash - London Calling (for a time) but i was only holding on to it for my uncle. i never listened to it...
Ugh... *pulls knife out of chest...* I am sure that their punk rock image may drive most away, but in actuality, I am not a big fan of their other stuff because most of it falls into the dated British punk area. London Calling, however, (to the tune of Lester Bangs...) transcends the punk rock dribble of the time with lushly layered and cleverly constructed songs that rise above both time and setting to convey an ageless album nestling neatly into the short cannon of rock and roll music...
What I am trying to say is, check it out sometime.
High Fidelity is also a great soundtrack. Much of the music from that movie has had a huge affect on my own taste. For example, I am now an avid Smog and Belle and Sebastion devotee, which I am sure dates me to the tender old age of 'sad bastard'. The movie, of course, only augments an incredible soundtrack.
