Our sleep schedule is so incredibly screwed up right now, I'm not quite sure we're going to pull it together by Sunday night.  We're both getting sleepy around 8 pm but found out Thursday night that if we actually go to bed then, we're up at 2-3 am for hours (me for only an hour or so, but the Mister is up almost the rest of the night.  Last night ( Read more... )

Hi Jo, it took us a good two weeks to get over the jet lag. It was really awful but sunlight seems to have helped (or maybe it was just time going by)

I'm sorry about the lost card; that's hard to let go of.

That's good to know. I'm dying over here and wondering when the hell will end. Worth every moment, but still sucky to think I have to go to work tomorrow.

I'm over the card. Well, not really, but it is what it is. I was mostly over it until Nathan said that his stuff in Xian country-side came out better than expected. I wish I had my side of the car on those photos. Most of them, we'll probably never give for public consumption--more we just like the reminder to ourselves.

What really makes me steamed is that I bought an external hard-drive to copy our cards on to. The day before we left, Nathan's camera died and he had to buy a new one hours before all the stores closed. I got all his CF cards and realized I didn't need any back up and so I didn't...instead of the smart thing of backing up in case of failure. :( It would be less infuriating if I had been more conscious.

Our dogs always lose weight as well...just leave him lots of dry food and he will eat his way back to healthy in a week, maybe 2. Our dog is also healthy/zero fat and was sad looking when we got back from our cruise. In literally a week - he was good to go. But...he was at the food bowl nearly 24/7.

don't worry....Radar will spring back quickly now that he knows you haven't left him forever and ever... cuz remember even one day is at least 7 doggie forevers...so while you were gone was UMPTEEN doggie forevers in his world : )

hugs!

He totally will. Poor little dude is probably more exhausted than we are. He basically slept/looked groggy all of yesterday and his energy level is still low today. He slept through his usual 7 am wake up time (which we appreciate greatly since we're so jetlagged)

He's being a little more needy than usual and wants constant pettings. We're undulging him with hanging out in dogpiles on the floor with him a lot. I'm sure he'll be back to his old self in a few days.

Radar missed his human beans !!

And BTW -- that chicken (and the soup) sounds awesome!

Sorry you can't find the card -- that sucks

I got everything from the "Fine Cooking" website! The chicken is here:

The potato soup is here. I made it tonight but it tastes like it needs at least 24 hours to really get the flavor I want. Or, it is missing something and I'm not sure what that would be:

All soup tastes better to me with a day going by, but I still can't figure out if there is something wrong with mine and my grandmother's cooking or it is the nature of soup/stews.

I'll let you know if the squash soup is up to par. I have a feeling that it might be too bland and need some curry or something in it to make it more interesting.

For jet lag, generally figure 1 day for each hour of time difference.
