Just because Toronto is never boring

Spent a day in Toronto this weekend, and it was as insane as usual.

Only in Toronto can you expect to drop $40 in a series of 15 minute stops with your car. I also spent a fair amount of time in the Church street area, which is known to host a few of the more colourfully dressed amongst the population. Girl watching requires hazard pay if you're homophobic, since most of the hot looking girls aren't girls at all. I had a blast. Me in a dress is not a good thing, but props to those who can pull it off.

Also got to see bits and pieces of a parade, and the motorcycle accident proceeding it. A mother and some kids stepped out in front of a motor-bike, and he spilled it but big time. Was wearing shorts and running shoes, but at least had on his gloves, jacket, and helmet. It looked like his foot peg had punctured his calf when it came down on him, and his leg was a mess. Everyone was just standing around watching him roll on the ground when I ran up. I didn't have my first aid kit with me, but strangely enough he wasn't bleeding through the loonie sized hole in his leg. Shock, and the fact that the puncture was through muscle I guess. Still gross. When the officer who had been at the front of the parade zipped up on her motorbike she grabbed her first aid kit, and handed it to me. After the moment of, "uh...you want me to use your first aid kit for you?" I slipped on the gloves and went rummaging for compression bandages.

They kept asking me if I was a doctor, or a paramedic, because they couldn't seem to believe that random strangers would step forward to help someone who was injured. But the cops are getting smart about lawyers. When I asked them if they needed my information they asked if I'd actually seen the accident, and when they found out I only turned my head after the sound they suggested I quietly dissapear. Can't sue someone whose name you don't know I guess. It's getting a bit sue-crazy here in Canada too according to some of my officers.

Other than that I had a good time shopping, even spend some time looking at how much it costs too look like the cast of The Matrix. Apparently a long leather jacket of good quality, cut, and design would cost me in the area of $1200-1800 before tax. The damn thing better help me dodge bullets for that.

I had a good weekend though, met interesting people, including a LJ member who spent 3 hours on public transit just to say hello to me while I was there. Fun was had.
