iScrybe

So my invitation to become a Beta iScrybe tester finally came... nearly a full year after I applied! I'd almost completely forgot about the damn online organizer, but I do remember being impressed by it's features AT THE TIME. I am non-plussed that it doesn't support Safari, has many PC-like features, and doesn't seem to have that innovative feel ( Read more... )

although im a complete apple whore, i think im right in believing ol' steve's reasons for swapping out imovie hd with the new imovie 08. the app is pretty great and makes it very very easy to make a quick movie. something that imovie hd just didnt do. ive now used them both and would definitely use the new imovie more to do a quick and easy video. if i wanted to do something more complicated maybe id break out final cut, but thats not what the ilife suite is about.

i got my beta for scrybe too. it worked in my safari, but im running the safari 3 beta. i was super impressed with it originally too but now im wondering if id ever use it...

I'm downloading iMovie '06 right now and it is sloooww, I'm assuming Apple's server for this might be a bit bogged, considering it's a 157 MB download.

I'll have to get Safari Beta 3.

I understand that the iLife suite is intended for user friendliness, but they have gutted the old iMovie application to create an entirely different one, and swapped the name out. This means many of the more "pro" features are likely to never return, and people will have to pay much more cash for say.... Final Cut Express, at the very least. I hear that swapping files between versions is pretty much tanked too, so starting your project requires you to decide which application has the best features, even though they share the same name.

Still, this specualtion is all pre-testdrive so I could be putting my foot in. That, and I don't have an HD camera, haha.

Not particularly excited about iScrybe, but I'll give it a spin.
