Think I just pooped a bit.

The organization I work for, Project Angel Food, is supported mostly by private and corporate charitable donation. In fact, it's around 80%, and considering we're a long established charity in the heart of Hollywood, many of the donors are the super-rich and famous. I can't even tell you how many or who, but the Hilton Family is a massive donor, as ( Read more... )

Thanks man. It isn't like I give a fuck that they're famous or whatever, but that I might get some great exposure and possibly a decent gig and maybe a little bit nervous about feeding people with more monied palates. It's a big deal...

Two words: Sysco Venison!... Comes in a #10 can!

Don't fear the shopping, embrace it. You'll kick ass.

You have GOT to be kidding. I meant to look this up yesterday, but I was in a panic whilst ordering realizing that they didn't have at least 50% of what I needed and the rest was drop ship. If that is true, I think I'd have to order a can just to point and laugh at...

I'm actually assuming. OK, kidding might be the right word. It's just one of those sick, twisted thoughts that might be disturbingly true.

It did seem implausible, I was willing to give the benefit of a doubt. I have seen whole chickens in cans, government beef in cans, why not venison? Perhaps everything deserves to be canned...

Wow--So cool!!! As I barely met you, I never did know about this whole cooking thing in your life until reading your blog. I'm really interested to hear about what you make for this and I'd love to see pics of the treats! I enjoy cooking when I have time for it, but I've always worked off of recipes, never been an artist in that area. Neil keeps trying to teach me, but it's just not a thing I have a flair for.

Yeah, I'm going on 20 years of commercial cooking. Still doesn't help me much when I try to get a high-level job at a 5 star restaurant though, they want to see a school on your resume. As it is, if I enrolled in the country's top school, I'd have to skip the first two years (of 4) because there is nothing they could teach me...

I think cooking can be taught, but to truly have a flair for it, you kinda know early on that it is something you do. I knew very early on that I would be a chef. Keep trying though, cooking is still fun, even if you're not sure what you're doing!

There will be leftovers, for sure. I still have 5 pounds of basil shrimp filling in the freezer I don't know what to do with...

I'll save some key ingredients and whip something up for my next movie night.
