It was a Sunday afternoon, which meant it was completely and utterly boring. Nothing ever happened on a Sunday. It was always Saturdays. But Rose was getting in touch with a friend and Mickey was tagging along, which meant the Doctor had decided to stay behind and do a few tune-ups ( Read more... )

Ever since Rose had mentioned wanting to spend the day catching up with some old friends, Jack had made a point of suddenly finding himself lost among the TARDIS corridors. Well, not lost lost, because he didn't get lost like that, not anymore. Just lost enough that should she happen to decide to invite him along, she wouldn't be able to actually find him.

Several dozen hallways, two libraries, three green rooms, and a sitting room which Jack was convinced contained something that had growled at him, he finally decided to make his way back towards the console room. It didn't surprise him to find the Doctor there. Everything else in the room however, did.

And for the moment, all thoughts of the possibly-infested sitting room disappeared from his head. "Where do you even keep all this stuff?"

The Doctor twisted around to look at Jack, the screwdriver currently in his mouth. Luckily, he remembered to spit it into his hand before speaking.

"The drawers are bigger on the inside," he said. He picked up a set of thin metal rods that were constantly twisting around each other. "49th century weather vane. I forgot I had that. ...Why's it under 'p'?"

It was quite obvious why the drawers were such a mess.

Jack raised an eyebrow but didn't say anything, too busy looking around at the drawers to really be bothered to comment on just where that screwdriver had been before the Doctor decided to stick it in his mouth.

Wading through the mess, he took a seat near the other man, inspecting the rods curiously for a few moments. "'P' for 'Poke your eye out'?" It was a legitimate guess, in his opinion; who knew if the drawers even had an actual filling system to begin with.

"Find anything interesting under 'c'?"

Jack suggestion was on target, a fact which the Doctor decided to gloss over for now. He wasn't sure what he'd been thinking to file it that way.

"'C'! Let's see what 'c' has." The Doctor slid over on his knees to a different drawer and began to dig through it. A few times something sharp poked him and he dug up a sword, tossing it to the side. "Cutlass," he muttered. Another poke and he pulled out a badge. "Cat pins! Uhm, hmm."

The Doctor held up a large ray gun. "Atmospherically locked temperature exchanging device."
