Sirius' mum is one of those characters which we don't really get told much about in the series, which gives me a hellofa lot of freedom! I'm really glad you liked my interpretation.

Granted, I am a complete sucker for scenes of Sirius' childhood, but yours was especially poignant. And the whole metaphor of the glass bird was very effective.
But the end bit with Remus was truly beautiful. I love the connection between the two men. And this was nive: He pulls Sirius’ hand to his mouth again and he knows nothing he can say can make it right; he’s already tried arguing with Dumbledore until his vocal chords felt like they should be bleeding. Instead, he nuzzles his nose against their now entwined fingers and hums, “Come to bed with me.”

'Different in a good way' - my mum is ALWAYS saying that about me!
I think EVERYONE is a sucker for ickleSirius! I certainly am! ickleRemus too come to think of it. Besides, I think so much of Sirius' issues in OotP stem from his past and JK never really explained much of his childhood. All the more reason why we should provide some backstory!!
Equally, the connection between them is all their own fault! They shouldn't be so perfect for one another :p
Thanks again for your great feedback,

The whole idea of Sirius feeling the need to 'free' the bird is great, made me sit up a little in my chair. He's so childish (being, in fact, a child) but at the same time you can see the older sirius in him. Fab.
Wee-sirius-in-velvet reminds me of wee-pippin-in-velvet-breeches :P
