To anyone in the North of England currently being rained on: I'm sorry. It's my fault - I left my waterproof trousers at work.

I still don't envy the car drivers, though: I still get to work faster, and I don't have to use petrol or sit in a stuffy box to do it.

Thank you for the apology; Toby the Jack Russell thanks you too - he had to be cuddled dry!

Being cuddled dry doesn't sound like too much of a hardship! My cat takes a dim view of being dried off - she's got really thick fur which keeps the rain off her skin, so she doesn't really see the value of being pounced on with a towel as soon as she gets in. My sofa appreciates it, though.

To be honest, the cuddle was no hardship; I think it's something his original owner used to do because as soon as I produce the towel he gets excited and jumps up on it when I spread it on my lap. What he doesn't like is when he gets wet enough to need it! Like all the dogs I've had, he hates getting his face and ears wet, and loves it when I wipe them.
