Summary: Minho finally gets to meet his pen pal of 5 years, Lee Taemin.
Taemin was pissed about the entire situation. The bike trail they were currently at was his favorite place to go when he was with his friends or alone. Not with Minho. The fact that Kibum had decided to go ahead and invite Minho here without his permission irritated him immensely, but he wouldn’t be mentioning this around Minho, the bastard didn’t need to know about it. The asshole would probably just laugh at him or make rude remarks about how immature Taemin was acting and how he didn’t own the trail, it was anybody’s who felt like going there.
Since he wasn’t happy, he defiantly wasn’t going to pretend like he was, so Taemin put on his best mean face and stared at the seat in front him. He wasn’t about to let anybody force him out of the seat, he wasn’t going no matter what anybody said. That is, until Kibum turned around and mentioned ice-cream.
“Minnie, if you do this and fix this crap between you two, I might just buy you whatever size ice-cream you feel like having after this.” If Kibum had mentioned this before, Taemin would have immediately said yes with no complaints whatsoever. The thought of getting free ice-cream afterward was defiantly reason enough to persevere through Minho’s snappy remarks for an hour or so.
He wasn’t going to perk up just yet though, so he gave Kibum the smallest of smiles before shoving his way past Minho and out of the car. Minho scoffed while at the same time wanting to laugh at Taemin’s eagerness for ice-cream. He didn’t laugh, but he did allow himself a mix between a smile and smirk in his direction.
Jinki was already trying his best to drag the bicycles from the trunk, but instead of successfully removing them, all he ended up with was a scratch on the car and an angry Kibum.
“I can’t believe you scratched the car again, I just got the damn thing repainted last Thursday!” He said grinding his teeth and looking over at Minho expectantly. Minho raised one brow at the look Kibum was giving him, only to get a yet another snappy mark from him in return. “Minho, get the bicycles out of the damn trunk or I will rip the skin from your face and serve it for lunch.”
Minho didn’t respond, just jogged lightly over to the trunk with a slightly disgusted look on his face. Taemin, although he hadn’t understood what Kibum had just said, chuckled at Minho’s reaction and grabbed the sunscreen from where it sat inside of the car. He rubbed a decent amount of it on himself before handing it off to Jinki, who did the same before handing it to Kibum. When Kibum held it out for Minho to take, Minho shook his head and turned around to feel the tires on each bike for the umpteenth time.
“Minho put some sunscreen on, unless you plan on looking like a lobster for the rest of your stay here.” Minho smirked,
“I don’t sunburn, Kibum. I tan.” Kibum placed his hands on his sides and cocked his hips to the side angrily.
“That doesn’t mean you won’t get skin cancer. Tanning is just as unhealthy.”
“I don’t really feel like that matter-”
“Whatever. If you want to die a snow painful skin cancerous death, be my guest.” He said, throwing the bottle of sunscreen back to where it had been sitting before. Seeing this as their cue to leave, Jinki shut the trunk and locked the door before hopping on his baby blue bicycle he used every time they went biking. Kibum turned back to Minho and gestured towards the bike next to his boyfriend, indicating that it was his to ride.
Jinki looked over at Minho, whose facial expression resembled that of a person locked in torture chamber, and gave him the biggest smile he possibly could. If he could get him to cheer up, he might realize that this wasn’t that bad at all and he might actually have a little fun. Despite the fact that Jinki’s smiles are infectious, it didn’t work and only made another awkward moment between them that he would probably feel embarrassed about for the rest of the day. Kibum looked over at the two men next to him and laughed before peddling away on his bike towards the trail entrance with Taemin close behind.
Seeing as Minho had long legs and was extremely athletic, he easily peddled ahead of the whole group. He had been planning to ignore them the whole time anyway, so going ahead would just make things easier.
If he thought Taemin wasn’t going to try and catch up to him, he was wrong. Taemin was actually very competitive under his innocent appearance and would do anything he felt necessary to win.
He hoisted himself up off of the seat and managed to get several feet away from Minho in a couple seconds. Minho peddled a little faster, Taemin did so as well, and it continued in a never-ending circle.
Behind them Kibum casually peddled along with Jinki beside him, who was wearing a slightly troubled look. Kibum looked over and gave Jinki a smug little smile before confessing.
“Don’t worry about them, this is all a part of my evil plan to get them to make up. One of them is bound to hurt themselves and when it happens, I doubt the other will just leave them lying on the pavement.”
Jinki’s eyes widened for a moment before he cracked a smile and reached out for Kibum’s hand. He took it and they continued to peddle along, miles behind Taemin and Minho.
Minho was furious. This guy couldn’t just leave him alone! It was like he had some sort of hidden stalker motive and Minho was just plain tired of it. He had been thinking about this particular move the whole time, but hadn’t actually planned on executing it until now. He was fed up.
He abruptly pulled the brakes on the handles and let his feet hit the ground, stopping the bike and bracing himself for impact. He could hear Taemin curse as the back wheel of his bike and the front of his collided, causing Taemin to fly backward.
Minho’s eyes widened at the sound of what he assumed to be Taemin’s head colliding with the pavement and immediately got off the bike. Minho felt his blood run cold and felt his body freeze up, he hadn’t meant to hurt him. He looked at Taemin, who was now lying on his on his back, holding his head tenderly and letting out soft moans of pain.
To say that Minho panicked would be an understatement, the guy went completely ballistic. He flung himself to the ground beside Taemin, muttering ‘I’m sorry’s and ‘I don’t know what to do’s. He flinched a little when Taemin let out another little groan of pain and gently set his hand on his shoulder.
“Are you -um -okay? I mean- I’m sorry I- I didn’t mean to. It was meant to be a joke! I swear!” Minho’s yelling had quickly attracted a small crowd of people and he looked around at them, searching for someone who might tell him what to do.
Minho had never been in an emergency. He had read about them, but reading is a lot different than experiencing something. After realizing that several people had already called for an ambulance for Taemin, he did what he felt he needed to. He sat by him and talked to him until the group of paramedics arrived.
The paramedics checked Taemin for anything that could potentially fatal (this lasted less than five minutes), then walked over to Minho with the news. Minho looked up expectantly at them, horrified about what terrible news he was sure he was about to hear. The tallest of them looked at him and frowned,
“There isn’t anything severely wrong with him, sir. No concussion, he doesn’t even need stitches. The most he’ll need is a band-aid.” Minho doesn’t think he’s ever felt as stupid or relieved in his entire life. His presses his lips together and nods his head at the paramedic before thanking him and jogging over to Taemin.
Taemin sits up and rubs the back of his head, then slaps Minho’s arm as hard as he possibly can. Minho cursed and looked at the angry red mark on his arm, Taemin should be thanking him for being considerate not slapping him.
“You are such an idiot. You didn’t even let me tell you how I felt, all you did was start screaming about how you thought I was dead.” Minho doesn’t recall saying Taemin was dead (this is all he really got out of the sentence) “God, all I did was bump my head. I would’ve been fine if you had just let me lay there for a couple seconds.” Taemin flipped his head back and let out a frustrated sigh.
Then Taemin laughed. He pulled his head forward and clutched his aching stomach, laughing like there was no tomorrow. He was tearing up and he couldn’t breathe, but he didn’t care because he was so happy Minho actually cared. He couldn’t help but laugh at the whole situation. He couldn’t help but laugh at them.
Minho sits there awkwardly for a moment while the younger guy laughs, but soon discovers Taemin’s laughter is contagious and joins in. He reaches forward and slings an arm around his shoulder as they laugh, feeling like they’ll never stop.
And when he swoops downward and pecks Taemin on the cheek, neither of them even care.
Kibum and Jinki pull up to their little laughter-fest and grin, they have no idea what’s happening, but they can easily guess that the two have at least made up.
----
Minho and Taemin do manage to stop laughing and when they do they both hop back on their bikes and ride. They don’t race; they just peddle along and occasionally look over at each other and chuckle.
It doesn’t feel like it’s been a long time, but the day’s almost over and they finish the trail just as the sun begins to set. Taemin looks over at Minho and bites his lip,
“I’m hungry.”
“Same here.”
“I’ll ask Kibum if we can go get that ice-cream he promised me earlier.”
“No actual food?”
“Um- Minho. Ice-cream is actual food.” Minho shakes his head, but decides to let it slide. It was kind of funny anyway. Taemin grins then turns towards Kibum and Jinki. “Can we go get the ice-cream you promised me?”
Kibum purses his lips and glances over at Jinki, he had been hoping that after all that had happened Taemin wouldn’t remember. He nods reluctantly, knowing that his precious money will be practically all gone by the end of the night because when Taemin buys ice-cream he goes completely insane.
----
They’re all sitting together at one of the many small, sticky, tables in the shop each with they’re own little bowl of ice-cream. Except for Taemin of course, he’s the one with the giant bowl filled to the brim with chocolate ice-cream covered in chocolate sauce, chocolate chips, and any other chocolate item he could find.
The shop is relatively small and it’s cold. The walls are white and the windows are circular, giving the place a more modern look.
They haven’t talked much since they arrived, so Kibum sets down his spoon in the bowl and tries his best to start a conversation.
“So, Minho. Your Korean has definitely improved since you got here.”
“Yeah, I guess it has.” Minho relies, swallowing the spoonful of ice-cream he had just shoved into his mouth. It’s good, so he takes a couple more spoonfuls before Kibum decides to go and ask him another question. But what Kibum asks next isn’t a question and it’s just plain embarrassing.
“So I saw you two kiss. Well the kiss on the cheek, one lame ass kiss if you ask me. I guess you two are dating now.”
Taemin chokes and Minho spits, a spray of vanilla flying from his mouth and dribbling down his chin. The immediately sit up and flail around, assuring the couple in front of them they are not dating and never will be. Kibum just laughs,
“You two defiantly are.”
A/N: It’s been such a long time since I’ve updated this! I feel like such an asshole. Lol. Sorry! Hopefully the next one will be faster; I do have two other stories going along with school (bad excuse, I know). Do tell me what you thought! ☺
