Hmm... well here's a stab at some old school for ya.
Any--and I mean ANY--Van Halen from 1977 to 1984. While their least commercially successful album was Fair Warning, it is actually one of my all time favorites.
Any KISS from 1974 to 1977. If live music is your sickness then the album KISS Alive II that followed that era is your cure.

Before he was "the artist formerly known as..." he was freakin' Prince. Any of the three albums from 1981 to 1984 are fantastic. My favorite of that era is 1999 but the Purple Rain OST was the most successful.
That should cover you for a week or three. I guess I should actually post this much to my own blog once and a while...
