Well, they really don't know how to hop if they're raised in a litter of less than three kits, and when they are in a pet store environment, there's really not much stimuli. So they just kinda walk around for the first coupla months, until they learn that hopping is faster. But if you play with them a lot, like I do, they learn how to do the (I'm not kidding, I read this in a fuckin encyclopedia) "Weasel War Dance", wherein they bounce from side to side, get the frizzled tail, and start barking. Then, now that they got the bouncing part down, the hopping aint too far off.
And this lil' guy just looooooves wine corks. I think this is the norm among furbits.

How did you "learn" him how to hop? You sound like a stupid hillbillie(and I think hopping is pretty much an instinctual thing with ferrets).
