I found a studio space.  A STOREFRONT studio space.  This would allow me to:

1.  Make big messy stuff.  Which would allow me to:

1a.)  Have a body of work
        2a.)  Stop bitching about not having the body of work I want
        3a.)  Use said body of work to apply (with greater success ) for grants, shows, and grad school

I don't know if it will be any help, but a new women run gallery just opened up around the corner from me on Lincoln (http://fillintheblankgallery.wordpress.com/about-us/). If you are going to rent this space it might not hurt to drop in there and make a few more connections.
