The Waiting Game

Jul 17, 2006 17:42

So, as of today, we're at T minus 2 weeks. I had my last band concert last night (well, last for me -- there's one in August I'm not playing at). So now I have no committments or obligations until the baby is born. My doctor is going on vacation for the first two weeks in August, so we're hoping the baby comes before then, but that's statistically ( Read more... )

Good Luck!

My only advice at this point it go in the water a lot. Is there a YMCA near by? Walk, as much as you can. Walking is really good for having a fit birth. Makes it easier. I know it is uncomfortable doing everything, I can recall not being able to sleep and sit up without feeling aches.
Just try and take is easy, treat yourself like a queen!

Take care!

I've been enjoying my dad's pool when I can. Technically, our condo association has a pool, but I've been afraid to use it since they started warning people not to leave dirty diapers around. It's very small and, I suspect, probably in frequent use by kids.

Our local Y does have a pool, and I had planned on joining. I just never got around to it and am not sure it's worth it at this point. As for walking -- maybe if the weather cools down a little. Right now it's so miserable the cat wants to come back inside minutes after going out.

Thanks for the advice and sympathy. It's sensible and I should probably be following it more than I am.

While I've never had children I've seen my sister-in-law go through it five times. She loves it. I think she's insane. ;) And she says she wants another. *rollseyes* I just shiver when I think about babysitting them!

As for being late, my brother (the first of four) was two days late, as was his first born. And as for birthdays, my dad, my sister *and* one of my neices all share the same birthday. My younger brother's birthday and my other neice's are only one day apart (the niece was actually born on my aunt's birthday). And the two older nephew's birthdays are only two days apart. All the birthdays in our family are bunched together in groups. It's bizarre.

I hope to have your fic finished for you in the next couple of days!

*hugs again*

FIVE KIDS?

Whoa. Matt and I are thinking one, maybe two tops. Five or six just seems so exhausting. Does your sister-in-law ever have time for herself?

Two days late is nothing. I was twenty-five days late, a fact that my mother occasionally likes to remind me of. I'd rather not wait until after my doctor gets back from vacation to give birth, but some might call it cosmic or karmic justice :-).

My sister often has to share her birthday with Father's Day, which is about as close as we come to birthday sharing. I think having a birthday close to a parent or sibling might be tough on some kids who want their own special day, but it's not like a grandfather is going to hog the limelight from his granddaughter, especially as he's in Virginia while we're in Massachusetts. I actually think it would be kind of cute for them to share a birthday, but I'm still rooting for sooner.

Also, yay fic!

Five. Yup. And she home-schools. And makes her own bread. And grinds her own flour. I think she's insane. But I love her. Picspam!

I was fifteen days late. Mom says that's because I love to sleep in. And she's right. I do. ;)

I sometimes share my birthday with Memorial Day. Which is rather nice having that extra day off.

<< On an unrelated note, my sister-in-law suggested that we try putting out dog training pads for Nestor to pee on. They remind me of thin, disposable diapers. So far Nestor is willing to pee on them, and they make clean-up much easier, which makes us much happier. A win-win for everyone but the environment. >>

OK, while you're in the hospital or wherever you plan to give birth, try to glom onto some of the 'absorbent pads' that they have lying around. They look just like the disposable ones you're talking about, but they're INDUSTRIAL GRADE HOSPITAL STRENGTH, and they absorb like nobody's business. And they're not disposable.

You will likely have one under your rear end for a significant amount of time. :-)

And as for the nostalgia part, it's not that you'll wish you were pregnant again -- it depends on the baby. If fortune shines on you (as I hope it will!), you'll get plenty of sleep, but it's just as likely that you'll be up and having to do things, rather than just up and unable to sleep. :-)
