I just spent two days working on a project, I literally hit the save button like five times and close the file. When I opened it back up, everything I had been working on just wasn't there anymore!! *cries literally* I can't find any of the auto-recover documents, and I tried open and repair, and the file says it hasn't been saved since the 30th ( Read more... )

Wait! Do a search for the document name. Sometimes Word gets into it's tiny little head to save it in weird places.

it found the file, but the work I saved isn't in there anymore... *seriously on the verge of crying over this...*
I've had problems with this machine since I started working here. This is just the latest in a series of screwups this machine doesn't seem to know how to handle...

Did you do a search though? There may be another copy with your updates in it.

yup... actually, as I'm looking at it, the computer hasn't saved anything since the 30th of September... I've just been lucky I haven't needed any file but this one (note taking while on phone or something like that) Its not overwriting the original file, which I sent in from home... thankfully I have some of it saved in google documents, so I'm working recreating the other 3500 words that disappeared from the 5000 word document. This computer did something similar to all my work related files about two months ago, garbling them all into ascii characters and then refusing to save at all... I got really used to copy/pasting into google documents for work, but this is not how it should be...

After four hours of trying to recover the work, I am now rewriting from memory... I've completed 1894 of the original 5000+ words... *cries some more* I'm losing chunks of it as I write, literally forgetting all but a few phrases and words I added in there...
