I'm not calling you a liar, just don't lie to me.

Sooooo...I beat the game last night.

For a few days now, Sev kept telling me that Anders was going to do something. She wouldn't even hint at what it was but that it had something to do with the Justice companion quest I had to complete. I sort of knew that Anders was up to something, but I figured it was going to happen at the end of the game and that it really wasn't a big deal in the actual storyline.

I continue playing, finally get to the Last Straw quest and try to break up a fight between Meredith and the First Enchanter whose name I can't spell.

Then...well, here's my reaction while I was playing through the quest and talking to Sev on AIM.

Me: Last one.
Me: The Last Straw.
Me: Aw jeez.
Sev: haha
Sev: haaah
Sev: i am staying up because i have to see your reaction.
Me: /SO ANXIOUS
Sev: be prepared for some serious shit.
Me: /very very scared
Me: ... Anders, what are you doing. Don't speak up to Meredith.
Me: OH GOD JUSTICE.
Me: WHAT THE FUCKING HELL
Sev: yeeeeeeeah
Sev: yeah.
Me: GODDAMMIT, ANDERS D8
Sev: bye bye Chantry.
Sev: that was my exact reaction :D
Sev: ...actually it was more
Sev: WHAT THE FUCK ANDERS
Sev: WHAT THE FUCK
Sev: but yeah.

Yeah. Um. I wasn't exactly prepared for Anders blowing up the Chantry. D8 I was both laughing and throwing things in shock and just...yeah. Wow. If I heard from someone else that this happens, I would've thought they were kidding, like Anders could only WISH he can blow up the Chantry, BUT HE DOES, HOW DID HE, HJLAHKGLA;GKA.

(I knew I should've went with the sexy angsty elf slave. His view on mages were problematic but at least he wouldn't blow up the fucking Chantry. Why do I go for the tortured dudes that screw everything up?)

So, my Hawke freaks and calls him a murderer for blowing up the Chantry while innocent people were still inside, he doesn't deny it but argues that it had to go, then Meredith starts telling her templars to kill all mages in response to the attack. I side with the mages because fuck that, genocide is awful and templars are awful. Thankfully I had high enoug friendship with Fenris that he goes, "This is a mistake, but I won't leave you," or something along those lines, so yay!

Then I decided to make Anders stick around and still pursue a relationship, because after seeing the First Enchanter use blood magic, having to deal with a shitload of other blood mages, and then fighting off all of the annoying templars throughout the entire game? The Chantry could go to hell and I wouldn't care because I shockingly agreed with Anders. Not the whole "blow up Chantry while people are still inside the building" thing, but the reasoning behind it made some sort of sense.

... STILLLLLLL. I kept cursing under my breath "fucking Anders" the entire time I had to fight abominations and shades and demons that kept killing me AND IT WAS ALL ANDERS' FAULT FOR BLOWING UP THE CHANTRY. I had to start over from a previous save and take Aveline out of my team and invited Fenris instead. After that, things were smooth sailing. Even the final battle with Meredith wasn't as difficult as I imagined it would be. It didn't get annoying until the statues started coming to life because they wouldn't stop!

The ending itself kills me because it's such a cliffhanger, and I'm wondering what the hell Leliana's doing with Cassandra at the end. The Warden AND the Champion are both gone? Are they out on magical adventures together? Did Alistair and Anders go with them? Is Zevran tagging along? WHY DO I WANT TO PLAY A GAME THAT CONTINUES WITH THAT? With the two heroines running around and saving the world while their stupid sexy men follow them, plus, hey, we got the sexy elven assassin making sure their asses are safe while they're sleeping.

In conclusion: the sequel definitely lived up to expectations. Even more so since ANDERS BLEW UP THE CHANTRY. I don't even think Morrigan would do that shit.
