dave, i know it is super hard to find a place to live. hell, kristin went back and forth on wanting to room with me because she had no idea where she was going to go to college. so when she finally decided to go to asu and room with me, we went off of what she/i could afford to pay each month. we/i looked for like 3 or 4 months for apartments before we finally decided on the hohokam villas(dumb name, nice place). so don't get discouraged it will all work out, it'll just take a little bit of time. the things that you have patients for are the things that are most worth while.

oh, and where are you looking for apartments?

I've been looking pretty much all over tempe, and i still need to find a roommate, oh well, things will work out for the best eventually,

chandler has some nice places too plus they aren't as expensive because there isn't as much demand since asu is in tempe. you should look around warner. then you can just jump on the 101 and then to the 202 and you're right by asu. that is what kristin is doing. just a suggestion :)
