This was amazing, I loved it. I've always wondered why Daniel didn't visit Sam myself, and I love your explanation. Wonderful. Well done!

OMG, I love this. LOVE.

From the very beginning with the dream, you had me drawn in, and then I became more and more entranced as the story went on. Every scene between Daniel and Sam made me squee because you captured them so perfectly. And the mere idea that Sam had thought Jack, Daniel, and Teal'c could have been the three ascended musketeers while she was left behind took my breath away.

Really, I'm just incoherent with massive love right now. Thank you so much!

Oh, and Jack as the Atavists' Oma? HEE!

I'm SO glad you liked it. I really did NOT want to just write another "Sam and Daniel have a conversation over coffee" fic. I wanted to jazz it up a bit, so I'm terribly pleased that you liked it.

And really, the show could have said *something* about this situation. I know in commentary they said they'd thought about having Sam ask Daniel why he'd never visited her, and that he'd just say, "Well, you didn't need me." And then they scrapped it because they didn't think it needed to be said. MEH. I say it DID need to be said. Hmmph!

A lovely way to handle the prompt, using the Atavist canvas and tying it to the Nirrti episode. I really enjoyed the descriptions of the planetary phenomena too.

I love the complexity of this story. You could so easily have written just the Sam/Daniel discussion/revelation and left it there, but to add in the many types of faith, the Heaven's Gate interpretation of ascension (brilliant!), Jack as Oma (OMG HA!), the OC, the astrophysical phenomenon that lets Sam think about what faith means to her, in her science and in her team ... wow. So many layers. The characters' voices are all perfectly drawn, especially Sam and Daniel. Great stuff.

Shouldn't there have been an episode where some local aliens worshipped Jack as their Oma? I mean, really. And he'd be all confused and sort of pleased and try to say things that are inspiring and wise, but instead it would all come out as kind of bizarre. But the aliens would find it awesome and deep, and Sam and Daniel would just laugh at him.

I WANT THAT EPISODE!
