We read a somewhat bullshitty article in my Milton class about whether Milton supported terrorism based on his portrayal of Samson in Samson Agonistes. I say "somewhat bullshitty" because a) it was a response to a totally bullshitty article about how he obviously supported terrorism (duh), b) the author was clearly using post-911 definitions and standards of terrorism, and c) there was no real discussion of the fact that Milton was working from source material, with its own baggage and implications.

On the upside, the exercise did a good job of pointing out that, yeah, the biblical Samson sure is a suicide bomber.
