There is a problem with this journal. Mostly it's because a good portion of the time it's a white canvas demanding something insightful, educational, or at least mildly profound but like a miracle if it happens too often the magic is lost. So, I am left trying to fill the white vastness with words of weight that carry some kind of semblance of ( Read more... )

I guess there really is vanity in writing to please others, never thought about that.

I am always overly self conscience about what is real and what is just for show.

Writing for other people carries about as much weight to it as flattery. Negligible. Catharsis seems to have some compelling reasons around it. So that your persona and your personality at least get equal representation. For me, I suppose it's because I don't know how not to.

I have a feeling you'd find yourself the fault in any situaton. You should cut yourself some slack.

We just finished our Bamboozle set. They're already ushering me back to the hotel but I'd rather stick around for Jimmy Eat World and Snoop Dogg, escape people and some how make it back to Brooklyn to sleep tonight in my own bed. It's not that it's far. I could do it if I wanted but we both know that I won't.

Sometimes I wish I could follow the strict lines and codes you bind yourself up in. Not to do anything, just to be aware that they're there. It seems like a pointless statement followed by some form of pacification, but what about Sam? Don't forget him under the pressure of being Sam Endicott From The Bravery. At least you've a tiny bit of time off soon, which isn't much, but it might be enough to get you back to Brooklyn.

I just write about myself, all the time. I excel in the vanity column.

Some things suit people better than other's. A Zoot Suit will never flatter me.

If my white canvas is demanding something insightful, educational or mildly profound I must keep disappointing it. I suppose we do write to please others or at least to entertain others. Some people seem to write for the purpose of pissing off others as well. There are also a couple on my friends list who seem to write for their own pleasure and they just kindly let us have a peek.

I suppose it's all about purpose and what I have been thinking lately is, what is the purpose?
