Excuses for insecurity or how I learned to love that bitch Mario

While every stage of childhood development is important, the most stressful mentally and physically is adolescence. By age 12/13 we have become self aware and socially aware individuals that recognize ourselves and our surroundings but that can cause mental distress upon the physical transformations. Some psychological professionals have argued ( Read more... )

I will come back to this post when I have not had four glasses of wine and I can concentrate a little better.

That's alright. I am about to open up a bottle of California red myself. The sommelier in the shop kept going on about fruity undertones when I just wanted to know if it was at least 13.5%

There comes a point where you have to say "oh fuck the undertones, is it more than thirteen percent?" otherwise you're just drinking piss and that's no fun.

Sadly all of this insistence on telling me about what I am drinking has made me more conscience on what I am drinking. I can pick out a decent wine now, 13.5 or higher.

I am an Everything Video Game virgin. It's not like I didn't go through the phase of being obsessed but it sort of ended and throughout it whenever I got stuck I would leave myself stuck and move onto an entirely different game (to get stuck and move on). Endless cycle.

I guess the general point of this comment is to introduce you to somebody lamer than you.

Meet my sister Sara.

I can't tell you the sense of pride that I felt when I beat Mega Man all on my own, only to look around and be reminded of the fact that I had isolated myself from everyone. It was a little bitter sweet. There have been other games that I just threw the controler in, like Marble Madness so I guess at some point you just have to play to your strengths and we're not all gamers.

Although I really wanted to be around '89 after The Wizard came out because Jenny Lewis was really cute in that movie.

Why is Sara lame?

This read like a parental warning on the dangers of video games, and I loved every word. When I was a wee lass, I had so many siblings that my parents figured we could find our entertainment with one another, and for the most part, we did. We lived in a tiny town, but that made us grow up in a sort of old fashioned way - going to the park, going fishing at the lough, waiting eagerly for trips into Dublin to go to record stores and bookstores, ice skating in the winter, and, of course, torturing one another. Also, my da was a musician, so we always had instruments around the house. None of us ever turned out to be gamers, but we can quote Oscar Wilde and cook and build birdhouses, and I think we turned out all right.

I'd be glad to make you some icons, if you tell me how you like them cropped and whether you like borders or not. I enjoy the easy monotony of it.

I guess I am becoming cranky in my old age. Soon I am going to start regaling people with stories about how I was stuck on a bus for 45 minutes a day going to and from school and it wasted my life away.

You had an upbringing similar to mine and it's not a dead thing. I have a friend that had a son at an early age and he's 12 now. All she buys him for his birthday and Christmas are things he can either wear or play with outside or creatively. His dad, she says, buys him video games and things of that sort. I guess it's always mom looking out for you.

What is a favorite Oscar Wilde quote for you?

My icons are a general example of what I like. No borders though. That is my only picky thing.

There is a new game that just came out. Super Mario Galaxy. I think it's for the Wii system.

Oh and you write too much.

It's not the same and even if I beat it, it's not the same.

TL;DR asshole.
