Urgh. Urgh Urgh Urgh.
So my 34 page book is due tomorrow. Up to page 11, what up. And so far it's just me jotting down stuff that sounds good, there is no plot. I WRITE MY ASSIGNMENTS LIKE I WRITE FIC. AND WE ALL KNOW HOW WELL THAT TURNS OUT. Basically, it's like some thematic fusion of Dead Like Me, The Book Thief and Let the Right One In. If you

Whaddya got so far? I'm happy to throw ideas around with you. I'm currently blasting Social Distortion, wearing a black hoodie and trying to bring out my inner disassociative fifteen year old boy in a flurry of trying to finish my Big Bang. So, yeah. Feel ya.

Okay. Well. Basically, the assignment is to write a 32/64/128 page illustrated book - comic, graphic novel, whatever. I'm going to do 32 pages because I'm not suicidal.
I have done eleven pages (but the order of them is not yet finalised), and jotted down ideas for another ten or so. My cental idea at the moment is that it's like the journal of a girl who died a long time ago, and now she guides souls to wherever they've got to go. But one day a boy refuses to leave, and she, like, learns stuff. About humanity. (Original, no?) So what I need is a thread to hold it all together, because right now it's just like a new story on every page. It doesn't feel complete, like you would turn the last page and feel satisfied.
...I don't know how one helps with that.

A few questions.
Why does the boy refuse to leave (by leave I assume you mean die)? What does the girl do?
What do you know about the boy? This can be anything -- his favorite candy, who he loves, something about him that makes him a douche, whatever.
In the middle of this dilemma, is she still guiding other souls or is it a one at a time thing, in which she has to resolve this issue before she can do anything else.
What do you know about the girl? Does she like her job? See it as necessary or beautiful or just her lot? Who does she answer to? Is the boy getting her into trouble with the higher ups or is he screwing with the Order of Things?
Hope this helps. I find "what do I know" about the character or the situation can sometimes help drive the plot. Let me know if you want to bat another round, I'm up for about 30 more minutes.
