Sami lay in bed that night thinking of part of her conversation she had had with James that day….
“What made you join the military?”
“Hm?” She looked at him. “Both my parents wer in it, everyone I knew was in it… I figured why not.”
“Were your parents okay with it?”
“My parents were away at war for almost my whole life..Im just now getting to know them. They left when I was one…”
“Oh, sorry… well, who ever you were with… what did they have to say?”
Sami smiled. “Riza..she,ah, didn’t like the idea to much…”
“Really?”
She smiled again. Oh yeah, Riza hadn’t wanted her in the military at all.
Flashback (sort of Riza’s POV, so its explained better)
“You’re doing what, Sami Rose Mustang?”
“Taking the alchemy exam.”
“Oh, no you’re not..” Riza said sharply. “You’re to young for that kind of this. You’re only in Junior High! You don’t need to be in the military!”
“It just feels right! And no, I’m not to young! Papa was younger than me!” the teenager retorted.
“You’re fourteen!”
“Papa was younger!”
“I don’t care how young Edward was!” Riza stated.
“I can do it!” Sami cried. “Why are you so against this?”
“We lost the baby, Sami! We don’t need to worry about looseing you too!” the older woman yelled.
“I’m sorry you lost your baby, Riza! I really am!” She yelled back. “But I know what I’m doing with alchemy!”
“You can’t have Sami! Just last year-“
“Just last year Riza, exactly!” She cried, throwing her arms up in the air. “I’ve gotten a lot better! I’m going!”
“No, you’re not!”
Sami took off for the door, riza chaseing after her. She pulled the front door open and chased after the younger girl. Elysia had been waiting out front, apparently, and the two of them were making their way down the front steps. Riza pulled out her gun. If this was what it was going to come to, she was going to have to shoot, with careful aim. Just enough to slow the girls down..and stop them. Nothing to seriously injur them… But as soon as she pulled it out, her front lawn erupted into flames.
“Sami!” She yelled in frusteration, shooting at the girls through the flames. Flames didn’t really bother her , after so many years of working wit the Flame Alchemist… Then she stopped. She was his daughter..and she had just sent her whole front yard into flames…. She watched the outlines of the two teenagers run, until one of them stopped and suddenly a large string of water had put out the fire. That would be Elysia, of course.
Maybe, just maybe….those two fourteen year old girls had what it takes to become a state alchemist…..
….Only time would tell….
