“What do you mean ‘Hey there shrimp’?” Sami yelled at him.
“Well, I’m taller than you now. You used to be taller than me. Just thought I’d say it to point it out..” Haru shrugged.
“Why?” Sami cried, ignoring Elysia’s laughter and the cries of a few band members who knew her from last school year of ‘Hey, Sami’s back!’.
“I just did, I’m sorry…” Haru appologised.
“Nyah, you’re horrible…”
“ I know.” The boy grinned. “ Missed you.”
“Missed you too!” Sami said once again throwing her arms around the boy.
Elysia now putting her stand back into position laughed. “ I think that’s the simplest that argument has ever been solved.”
Later that day, after the class ended, Sami waved goodbye to her best friends and ran home.
Opening the door, she stepped into the house and took her shoes off. “Im home!”
“Welcome back,” She heard Ed’s voice from the kitchen.
“Elysia said there was something going on involving me that she couldn’t tell me because it wasn’t her place.”
Ed stared at his daughter as she walked into the room he was in. “You waste no time. Go inspect your uniform.”
“My uniform?” Sami said looking down at the school one she wore.
“Your military one…”
“oh!”Sami cried, her cheeks tinging pink. “ Okay… I’ll be back soon…”
She ran up stairs, bolted into her room, to her closet and to the uniforms she did not take on her trip.
Something told her where to look. The shoulders.
Instead of the two stripes and single star, she found two stripes and double stars.
Her eyes grew wide and she muttered what this meant out loud.
“ Lieutenant Colonel….?”
