I totally agree. The finale was incredible, and while it's not optimal from most of fandom's point of view that Cas is sort of going baddie... it's a path that allows his character to stay on the show, and more importantly, evolve. He felt betrayed by everyone he loved... and I don't blame him for doing what he did. No one understood how badly he needed to defeat Raphael, and he did it in the only way he knew he could. He didn't want the Apocalypse to happen - he had good intentions, and he wanted to save the boys, even if he had to work with Crowley to do so. And it seems he never would have given Crowley what he wanted, either. He had a plan, and no one trusted him. And then he won, and everyone jumps back to his side because they don't want to be against him. it sucks, but I can see it from Cas's POV. Killing Balthazar was a little too far... but that's just Kripke for you ( ... )

I don't think Cas is going to be evil. An evil God? Just can't make sense. A vengeful God? Okay, that works

That is an interesting point. But I have a feeling that it wont play out this way - I also don't think Cas will be evil, but he has definitely gone a little nuts. The thing that bothers me and makes me the most nervous is his last line in the episode, "worship me or die" or something to that effect. Thaaaat.... doesn't bode well.

I also think he has lost any emotional touchstone he used to have, and it makes him a larger, more powerful, more scary version of himself from Season 4. Except his motivations come from, yes, a vengeful place. According to him, he was abandoned by everyone he loved, so now he will love nobody, (his line about him having no family) and he will MAKE them love him. Its an interesting thought, but not a comforting one.

ALL MY THOUGHTS ARE IN THIS ENTRY.

(except about loving cas more than the winchesters. i can't, man, dean still crushes me every time.)

i am actually stoked to see how s7 turns out now, more so than i was at the end of s5 waiting for s6 to begin. :D

Lol, I love Dean to bits, I do, but I think I've grown tired of the Winchester angst-o-rama. I love them plenty, but Cas was shiny and new and different, and now has so much potential for change. Sam and Dean, I mean, where else can they possibly go narratively?

Dean's Lisa/Ben arc was tired, and I felt no emotional resonance with him. Sam either, actually, for his whole soul thing. I think its a combination of bad writing this season for both of them, and seeing six years worth of the same conflicts play out, which is the problem that will inevitably arise if you've only got two characters as your main leads.

I agree with everything you said about Cas. I liked his character arc this season, and I'm interested to see how it goes next season. I just hope they don't kill him. :(

If they do kill him, I hope it isn't just like killing the big bad of the season. I hope they redeem him before he goes.
