Well I've been epically busy with things, and whenever I'm stressed and have things to do, I putz around online :D. Having been a little obsessed with X-men fandom lately, I haven't been paying much attention to season 7 spoilers for supernatural. BUT, today I saw the little trailer thingie and the sneak peak of 7x01.

Spoilers for season 7, particularly 7x01/7x02 )

i think there has always been Cas hate around, but the haters have gotten a lot louder after the season 6 finale >:(

i for one an certain that Cas is gong to die or permanently disappear into the background after the season premiere, which really just makes me dread the new season even more than i already did. i think i'm over SPN. i will watch it for a while, because i love Dean Winchester too much to just let it go, but, idk... i don't care about the show any more. it doesn't excite me. it don't want to drop everything and watch SPN :(

So weird. I guess I never subscribed to any 'character hate'. The only person I disliked was Ruby 2.0, not because of her character, but because the actress was terrible. I even like Meg 2.0 just fine.

I dont mind if Cas dies, I just want it to be done well. Like Jo and Ellen's death - that was soooo sad, but their death had real impact, and it made Dean's deteriorating faith and resolve to resist Michael have more context. I'll still watch it, I mean, I like the show, and had even before Cas, but I dont think I was really invested at all since season 5.

yeah there's a lot of hate in SPN. kind of what we're defined by really lol. i don't hate any characters either...

i totally agree with what you just said, but given my distaste fo the execution of season 6 i don't think i'm likely to be impressed with how things continue. i should probably clarify what i meant... i wouldn't just stop watching SPN if Cas were to die or disappear, but i also don't think it will be done properly. i usually try to keep an open mind,. but like i said, i'm just disillusioned with it all :(

I also believe that Cas is a gonner. Which is gonna suck since I adore him to no end. For me, it's just bad writing, since there is no way that they (the writers) had to do this. I will be leaving the show- NO! It's leaving me. I had a really hard time with the show when it's just the boys and I am not looking forward to S7 at all. At least I'll be getting my Friday night's back ( ... )

I actually think the route the writers went with Cas was a great idea, but bad execution, because we see his motivations too little and too late. Also, some of them made no sense (Why didn't he tell Dean about saving Sam?). I think his character was really stagnating before, he was really quite useless to the plot, and this downward path is the same one we've seen both Sam and Dean deal with (demon blood/torturing, losing the will to live ( ... )

There's always been some amount of Cas hate (I should know, I used to be one of those who hated him), but it did seem to fade some after season 5 started.

Actually, I can think of one other show that had two main characters and that was it (as in, the most recurring other character was in 7 episodes and was a computer). But then, Quantum Leap is an entirely different kind of show, and I think with the way it works, it was easier to really have just the two main characters without getting tired of them.

I wish they would do more with Godstiel, too, since that seems like it could be an interesting storyline. Of course, I also wish they'd do something with the walls on Sam's soul finally being down, but I doubt we'll get much there, either. They really like to drop plots I think sound interesting. *sigh*

That's so interesting! If you don't mind, what is it about him that you hated? He always seemed just inconsequential to me, and I say this as someone who loves him.

Yeah, I'm not sure how Quantum Leap compares, since what I remember of it, it seems like every episode gets 'set back to zero' as it were. Sam leaps into a new person and has to deal with a new environment. When you have a consistent universe, it makes sense to expand it to include others, because focusing directly one one or two people, you inevitably run out of things to say.

Actually, from what I've read, Sam's downed wall seems to be a big plot point for season 7, and that it'll be something that needs to be dealt with for a while

You know, it seems so difficult to even remember properly now, but I think a lot of what I hated was that people seemed to make such a big deal over him all the time when he just seemed so flat and boring to me. It wasn't so much instant hate as more exposure to the character without any kind of growth caused me to dislike him progressively more ( ... )

Hmmm, I can understand that. Season 5 in particular had zero development for Cas, aside from the like one episode he was human, though I think season 4 had a very thorough arc. I suppose its the indie band hipster syndrome, haha, you feel indifferent about a band until everybody falls all over themselves for it. I'm guilty of that A LOT :P

I suppose it didn't bother me as much since there was all (as always) this Dean/Sam angst going on, it sorta distracted me, lol :D

You make a good point, they didn't really deal with the demon blood detox at all in season 5, except maybe during the famine episode. They just seem to be touting Sam's wall as a huge thing for season 7, but you never know. Guess we'll all find out together ;)
