My experience with the Twilight series....

... was quite short, actually. I was quite curious because of this ongoing craze, and decided on giving it a go. And it was recommended to me by someone that was a few years older than me, so I thought that it actually might have something. Yyyyyeah... I don't know what I was thinking ( Read more... )

Twilight is awful beyond all belief. I got halfway into the first before giving up. Poorly written, no character development to speak of, no plot ... what exactly is there to like about those books? It stumps me b/c such a large faction of its audience are people in their 20's. I understand a 14 year old girl liking it but a 24 year old woman? Yeeeah, not so much.

And I hate the "it's mindless fluff" argument. That's not a point in its favor, people. A book can be fun and fluffy but the writing should still be decent and the characters somewhat three-dimensional.

Most of all, however, I think the most annoying thing about the series is the fandom that sprung up around it. I used to find Harry Potter fandom scarily obsessed but those kids have nothing on the Twilight Freaks. Oi.

... and I'll be quiet now. :)

:D

If I didn't know before, I would be able to tell you are supremely annoyed by the series. :D It's quite amusing, really :D But I agree, as little as I read, it completely failed to hold my attention.

I would think it is meant for young adults or something. And even that doesn't do it justice, because some of those books that I have read are quite good!

She has a lot of fans.... but it'll be out of sight, out of mind soon me thinks. It's definitely not going to pass the test of time. Thank God for that!

I never read much of Young Adult even when I was a teen but what little I did was world's better than the dreck that is Twilight.

I do hope it's just a passing fad b/c it breaks my heart that something like that passes for literature these days.
