i haven't watched an anime series in a long time, but over the weekend i was just vegging out and i noticed that Netflix now has "Attack on Titan (進撃の巨人 Shingeki no Kyojin)". Everyone's talked soooo much about this series (from online friends, to coworkers, to chinese/korean/japanese pop idols and actors...) so i thought maybe i should give it a ( Read more... )

I watched a bit of it when the series first started, but there was way too much gore and ongoing angst for me.

oh yeah. i forgot to add the "gore" as a con. it was shockingly violent.

Now that Netflix FINALLY has Japanese dub + English subs, I want to get into watching anime again. LOL Except I can't find any of the 'classics' or semi-classics I want to see/re-watch, boo. (I saw Bubblegum Crisis on there and got so excited until I realized it wasn't the original.)

Soooooooo...yes, I've heard of Attack on Titan, if only from tumblr. Will give it a watch, once I have free time and catch up on all the OTHER shows I'm supposedly a fan of. lol

if you do give Attack on Titan a try... be warned about the gore. haha. like... titans eat and frequently stomp humans to death. so there is blood squirting and general dismemberment all over the place.

but... i dunno. i thought it was intriguing. ^O^;;;

wait, is it related to the Greek myths re: the Titans? because then blood and gore would..make sense. (I'm not generally squeamish about gore, especially animated gore, so that's fine. Only live-action horror-core stuff like Saw or The Human Centipede.)

it's not really related to the greek myth of the Titans except that the "titans" are giants (compared to humans) and excruciatingly violent. haha.

(the human centipede was also available on netflix... and i was sooooo curious... but i called a responsible friend who talked me out of it. ^_~)
