In which Sam actually takes an active type of action (sort of)!

First up, hello new friends! I haven't actually taken part in a friending meme for years and years, but I'm working on this whole keep LJ alive thing and besides, I like new people. I used to have an intro post floating around somewhere, but if memory serves me since that was last updated (around four/five years ago? I don't remember) I ( Read more... )

Harry is starting school? What what what? So, kindergarten?

Boo, sorry about your knee. But yes, good idea with the physio, at least let them look at it. You have to try everything.

Nope, proper school. I mean, it's pre-year 1, we call it Reception, so I guess kinda like kindergarten. But we don't really have kindergarten here, Joey only goes because he's in the Steiner school system. Which means despite the age gap, weirdly, Harry will become much more advanced academically than Joey over the next year or so, as he'll be having structured lessons and Joey won't. All the research shows that Joey will quickly catch up, but still, will be odd.

Your nephew sounds adorable. My youngest niece started school in February (Southern Hemisphere starts the school year then), though beforehand was talking about how she was not going to wear the uniform, she was going to be wearing her own dresses. But it seems my sister managed to convince her otherwise.

That sucks about the knee! Hope it heals properly soon. Have you had it checked out or just hoping it runs its course?

Aawww, your niece sounds great. Harry was all for his uniform actually, which is odd because it's this awful light blue polo shirt and a deep red jumper with grey trousers. But wearing it means he's a big boy, see. ;)

I haven't had it checked yet because I was working on the assumption I'd just pulled a muscle or something. Thinking I might have to now though, as it's gone on so long. Thanks for the well wishes!

Sorry your knee is hurting :(
Please do get it looked at, I'm sure that'll help.
I hear frustration about not being able to run because of it. I'm dealing with a (small) injury that keeps me from running for now - it's frustrating, because, like you, I was just starting to think I was making some real progress. Just boo. :(

Frustrating, yes, that is the word. Sigh. I am looking into getting it checked out, so fingers crossed it will be sorted soon. Hope your injury will be too!

Luckily, my injury is already clearing up (though it kept me from running for over a month). I can run again, though I still keep it to a max of 15 minutes instead of the 30-ish I did before. But I can run the 15 minutes without a problem. So there's a definite improvement! :)

And *fingers crossed* your knee gets better soon!

Everyone seems to be starting school this year, it's very scary they shouldn't be allowed to grow up. Ever.

Please do go to the physio, sounds like it's something that needs to be excersised and healed correctly. Knees can be a real bitch because they take such a beating from life. Especially if you spend a lot of time on them. Hope you get some good advice :)

I agree. I keep telling both Joey and Harry off about all this growing up nonsense and do they listen?!

Yeah, I am resigned to the physio. Because like you say, with the sort of work I do this sort of thing happens to most people. Just, you know, everyone else in the profession with knee problems are in their fifties. I'm advanced!

Sorry to hear about your knee. I think getting an appt. with a physiotherapist is a great idea! They'll be able to recommend things to help, and also ways to prevent further injury.

And I'm curious....how many hamsters is "an impressive collection"...?

Well, it used to be 8 hammies, but I've lost two this year so I'm down to 6. They are mostly rescues, all in their own individual hammy-mansions. I may have issues saying no to cute furry things that need loving...
