Yes, and I was present at the event! Mahalo for reminding me...how could I forget?! It was at the Merriam Park Library in ST Paul, MN. The mayor was Norm Coleman, back when he pretended to be a Democrat. He is now shamefully a Republican US senator. And he did indeed declate Oct 7,

And Norm did indeed declate Oct 7,1999 to be SAM LINDSAY-LEVINE DAY for reasons of a bunch of academic honors and you being a swell human being.
