I went to Watergardens today to go to a employment service provider to speak to a guy about a job that he had available. Anyway there were other people there waiting for the guy to turn up when suddenly out of nowhere this guy starts raving on about how the American people deserved 9/11 for their greed and it was a punishment from God and that it's ( Read more... )

Unfortunately I've heard of people like that too. It's a shame that there are people out there who believe that they deserved it. I mean no matter what someone's done in their life I would never ever wish that on anyone! :(

I think you handled it well though, staying calm and then moving on.

Hmm.. I don't know. The God in the Bible killed and punished people for less reasons than greed.
Of course if we're going with that... everyone "deserves" to die.. but singling out the Americans is contradictory.
Kudos for not taking out your fury on the guy.

thanks for that it was hard not to react. It remided me of people I know (at church) who are very racist, it just doesn't seem to go hand in hand with what God is all about.

Oh i'm not sure if i answered your question before but i'm a pentecostal christian

As you know, I'm really into 9/11...kinda morbid I know, but omg, everything about it fascinates me. Everyone says the government deserved it and in some ways, they do. The retaliation of it for the things they have done to other people or let happen in the past and done nothing, not those innocent people dying through no fault of their own I mean. If you watch some of the conspiracy theories about 9/11 you have to seriously wonder if the govt did have something to do with it. Who knows why. Would be seriously fucked if they did. People who use God as excuses for that bullshit are completely crazy and miss the point about Christianity. Its like the card that I got in the mail about how I was going to hell because I lusted after someone so it meant I had committed adultery or some bullshit like that and that God hates sin and smites down anyone who sins. Totally missing everything about what God stands for, don't you think? I wonder if that guy would say the same thing about 9/11 had he actually been to Ground Zero and FELT the ghosts ( ... )

I have to say that I think God does hate sin but what I'm saying is that even though he hates it he forgives people because (and i don't mean to sound preachy here) he loves us that much.

Nobody is perfect not even me I'm still constantly sinning but God forgives me.

I'm more worried that is guy is going to one day say all that to someone who lost someone in that tradgedy and then get shounted at for the next half hour because his an insensitive jerk. Fair enough you can have your opinions but sometimes there are times you have to keep that to yourself.

The word 'hate' though...thats missing the point. God doesn't hate anyone. Thats what I am saying. He doesn't want us to sin, and he'll forgive us if we do, he won't just send us to hell. You don't sound preachy its cool. It's that guys own fault if he gets yelled at, whether it be from someone who has lost a family member in 9/11 or someone else. Hell, I may have even yelled at him, what a jerk! As if he'd know.
