oh wow, this was a drive-by LJ visit and I spotted this. awesome hon, but be very careful to monitor it, so that he doesn't end up being bored, or finds it hard being with the older kids sometimes. At this age it wont show too much, but there may come a point where although academically he can relate to the older kids, emotionally he may still be that year younger. But other than that, I think its fantastic that the school have picked up on this so early and that they'll be encouraging him.
Oh, I will, don't worry... I'm already used to having to find out every little detail about what goes on in school anyway, so its not like I'll be going out of my way, lol.
Actually, the main problem really is that he doesn't get on with the younger kids to begin with. Which is probably why he needs to work on that :-S Poor baby is a bit of a loner really and much prefers to play on his own, or with an adult. Even his big sister he loves playing with, but people his own age... Not been happening so far...
My guess is that he was being difficult because he was bored... because I know I was in school because I learnt so fast and some of my classmates didn't...
Yeah, it's likely to have been part of it. When I was at school they handled it differently... Instead of moving me up a year they just gave me other work to do (I was reading things like "the hobbit" when the other kids were still "watching spot run" lol). It was probably a little more awkward for the teachers, but I got to stay with my classmates, so it all worked out for everyone.
At least you had something like that. My teachers didn't give me extra work to do, at least not until secretarial college where my English teacher Carl was to "blame" for my little story "A Dream" because he assigned me to write a story after I was done with my other work and bored...
What is it with schools and their complete inability to understand that not all kids learn at the same pace? Seriously... is it so difficult to give a child that works faster something extra to do?

We'll just have to see how he gets on, I suppose.

Paul and I often joke Seanie has the same IQ as the two of us combined... this is quite impressive really, as paul consistantly scores over 150, lol!
