Let's play the "count the number of words that begin with V" game...

I saw the first showing of V for Vendetta tonight. For the most part, I thought it was excellent. It strayed tremendously from the book, so it's hard to make a comparison, but I think it succeeded on its own terms.

And here's the stuff I can't say without a warning )

comics, movies

I saw it last night as well; I disagree with your point about the differences in the government in the comic and the movie. I would say the government is portrayed to be much more totalitarian and over the top in the book and its less clear cut in the movie; that was one thing I liked more about the movie aspecially in the first half ( ... )

I was primarily thinking of Sutler, who is pretty much just an evil demagogue, as opposed to Leader, who is not a good person but at least can be seen as a slave to Fate and, by extension, order. His crimes are, potentially, no worse than those V commits in the name of anarchy. That's sort of what I was getting at. Also, as harsh as the book's regime is, they did not unleash a virus on the masses just to get power. That was completely new, and, in my opinion, makes the government FAR worse than they are in the book ( ... )
