As many of you know, we went to New York City this past weekend and had the greatest time.
Friday:
Took off early in the morning. We got to La Guardia around 9:45 and got a ride with a limo service because the price was right and the guy was awesome.
Got to the hotel (Flatotel, 135 W. 52nd Street) and dropped off our bags. I can't say enough good things about the hotel. I loved the bathrooms most of all.
Had lunch at the Stage Delicatessen. Never knew sandwiches could be so tall.
Took subway downtown and walked across the Brooklyn Bridge.
Took subway back and walked around midtown. Went to American Girl Place and Molly spent her birthday money. Shopped some more. Found Magnolia Bakery which thrilled Sam, who is a huge Lonely Island fan. Got cupcakes.
Had pizza for dinner. Went to Times Square (without Sam who had horrible allergies) and checked out the lights.
Saturday:
Had bagels at hotel.
Walked through Central Park to the American Natural History Museum.
Saw the Cosmic Collisions show at the Planetarium, which thrilled Molly. She's into space right now.
Had lunch in Central Park- hot dogs/pretzels. Spent rest of day in Natural History Museum (Sam loved the human evolution section the best.) Took subway back to hotel. B train was not running, which we learned only after waiting forever. Thank you kind street musician for telling us.
Joey and I went out for drinks and to shop a little. Picked up Halal food (lamb and chicken combo) and ate in room while kids had leftover pizza.
We were too tired to go anyplace.
Sunday:
Molly and I got up early and went to American Girl Place for brunch. Sooooo awesome.
The boys went to a playground in Central Park. Met back up and checked out of hotel and stored our bags (which had doubled since arriving.) Walked to Empire State Building, passing New York Public Library along the way. Also stopped and shopped at Nintendo World. Nick loved that.
Went up to 86th floor observation deck at Empire State Building. Amazing.
Walked back to hotel, stopping to have hot dogs on the patio/steps of the library.
Got bags, caught a cab, headed home. Exhausted.
I am very proud of the fact that we either walked or took the subway everywhere. No cabs for us! I am also proud of how we were able to see everything we wanted, and that we already have a list of what to do next time.
Also, we did not see anyone famous, but Orlando Bloom was supposedly a couple gates down from us at the airport (according to a bunch of screaming/crying teen girls.) We also saw all sorts of football players and sports people because the NFL draft was at Radio City Music Hall and we walked by it at least twice a day.
