First off: why the new monastic routine? You know, now's not the best time to begin affiliating yourself with Catholicism.

Secondly, this new mythology stuff interests me. I imagine that most Americans are more apt to compare the beauty of their loved ones to the newest Hollywood bod than to Adonis or Venus, but I'm not sure that our half-baked system of easily recognizable allusions is cohesive enough to constitute a canon. Sure, everyone knows what I mean if I say "ruby slippers" or, to a lesser extent, "Howard the Duck," and perhaps the switch-sized starlets of film can send impressionable girls off to isolated vomitoriums, but I think the media's power is limited. It's too much of a mishmash to become religion's sugar pill.
