The inspiration for poems 1 & 7 was Mr. Gerard Manley Hopkins, at least in terms of structure and sound. As for the topical matter, I guess it was indirectly inspired by Andrew Lang's Fairy Books.

Which Homeric/Lucretian epic simile were you thinking of?

Welp, gratias tibi ago (I hope that I've used that correctly).

Daniel McCormick!! It's been so long since I've talked to you. i am so happy that you published these on live journal. i always knew that you were gifted with words, but I've never had the opportunity to read your work. I'm quite impressed. You obviously worked very hard to sculpt and move and change the sounds and lines and tones and rythm until they have become exactly what they were intended to be "in the beginning". You are a craftsman. What are your plans after graduation now? I know so little about your life. Love, Blair :)

Well, lordy mercy, I can hardly believe my monitor. It's good to hear from you, Ms. Overstreet :-)

Thank you for your kind words concerning my poetry. I do like the idea of searching for those nearly adamic speech-sounds which so satisfyingly fit the ideas they express (ex. bamboozle, what a wonderful word).

As for my life, at the moment its a bit limbo-y. Though I've walked across a stage and taken an empty red folder which is meant to look like a diploma, I still have two classes to take in June. I'll be in Tuscaloosa for those. Afterward, I need to get my butt in gear. I've planned to take a little time off, but I want to go back to school soon (possibly for TESOL certification).

That's my report. Now, what's been going on with you? Lindsey passed on a few tidbits, but I'm sure you can fill me in more fully.
