Just thought I'd throw this out there to see what people think: What are, in your opinion, the best "anytime" movies? These are the films that you are pretty much always in the mood for, even if you just watched them a day ago. These kinds of movies aren't necessarily better than ones that aren't on your list - they just have this special, charming ( Read more... )

Agh, can't believe I forgot Ferris Bueller's Day Off. I've thrown that DVD on so many times it's ridiculous.

Oh god, I could list sooo many. High Fidelity and Goodfellas are on my list too. I think that "quality" you're talking about, at least to me, is that almost every scene has something to really sink your teeth into. Like every time you see it, you're looking for your favorite line, or favorite shot, or you've seen it so many times that you love pointing out the little nuances that rookies to the movie wouldn't notice until after a few viewings... Anyway, here's mine ( ... )

Yeah, Leon probably goes on my list, as well. I even usually watch a good portion of that lame, edited, "The Professional" cut that they tend to show on Bravo from time to time.

I totally agree about Chasing Amy. I'm not a huge Kevin Smith guy either, but I always see it at the library and sort of want to watch it again. And I always find myself watching Dogma when it's on Comedy Central.

25th hour? its decent, but by no means is it a 'throw on'. i could go my whole life without seeing it again and not care.

i find myself watching dogma for about 15 minutes before i get bored and change the channel. i liked it when i saw it in the theaters, but now its just irritating.

since our lists would have a lot of repeats, ill just list the movies that iver been obsessed with lately, and have probably watched 4+ times each within the past academic year.

days of being wild
sonatine
rushmore

and i cant say no to 'tomorrow never dies' when it comes on tv (which is often).

Anytime movies? Anything with a good movie but not too heavy, because if I'm in a brain dead mood, I don't want to think too hard. hehe.
Princess Mononoke and Clueless I agree. I don't think City of God would always be a good idea. I think it's the subtitles. hehe.
But LORD OF THE RINGS! I thought of it immediately. Even though they are long movies (and I have the extended versions!!!) I love 'em!
Anime movies are usually good as long as it's not...Ghost in the Shell or something too trippy.
I have a love/hate relationship with Liar Liar. It's really funny, but I've seen it SO MANY damn times because everyone and their dog seems to own it.
Blagh...
Anyone have Titan A.E.? I dig it.
