Summary: Chris visits Zach’s house. But he’s not there.

Chris looked down at the tombstone at his feet and shifted slightly, pushing his hands deeper into his coat pockets. It was starting to rain again and the ice cold wind was starting to pick up, he didn't move until he heard footsteps coming up behind him.
"Hey" A male voice said beside him
"Hi" Chris mumbled
"You alright?" The man asked, placing a hand on Chris's shoulder
"Yeah I'm good"
"Alright. Well my mom and Zoe sent me out here to get you, They don't want you getting sick" Then man said turning and facing Chris
"I won't"
"Chris please. I know your hurting but you have to come in"
"Joe. I didn't get a chance to say goodbye. Just...tell them I'll be in, in a few moments. I'm not ready to go yet"
"Alright. It's just...here. Zachary left this for you" Joe said stepping closer and handing Chris a simple white envelop. "I don't know what's in it. He wouldn't tell me"
Chris frowned, took the envelop and shoved it into his inside coat pocket
"Come inside when your ready" Joe said softly walking away.
Once Joe was gone, Chris knelt down and ran his hand over the tomb. It read
Zachary John Quinto
June 2 1977-October 17 2011
Friend, lover and Brother. He will be dearly missed
Live Long and Prosper
"I love you" Chris whispered. He stood up, wiped his eyes and without looking down walked away into the building where his friends and Zachary's family gathered

A few hours later, after Chris was able to pull himself away from his friends and Zach’s family, he slowly pushed open the door to Zach's apartment and stepped inside the dark front room.

He sighed and flipped on the light switch. The room bathed in a light glow.
Apparently nothing had been packed yet, everything was still in it's usual place. Right down to the book lying on the coffee table.

Chris closed the door and leaned against it. He couldn't believe what had happened in the past 2 weeks. Sure Zach had been complaining he hadn't been feeling 100% for the past year or so but no one suspected it had been anything serious. The doctor had found a cancerous tumor in his liver and it had already begun spreading into his lungs and intestines. It had been painful and exhausting on everyone.
But Zach hadn't lost his spirit. He kept doing his daily Yoga and continued walking Noah. The media hadn't suspected anything, and if they had no one had written or said anything, until Joe had announced a press conference to tell the world that Zach had passed away in the early morning of October 17Th. Family by his side.
Chris remembered that horrible phone call. Right down to the final details. Every breath and word. He would never forget them.
"It's Zach...he's gone Chris. He's passed"

And then Joe had said that Zach had left him Noah in his will. That had taken him for a loop. Sure he loved the dog, but Noah was Zach’s. It still had not felt right taking him.
The brunette blinked away tears for the countless times that day and headed for the stereo in the corner of the room. He turned in on and pushed 'Play'. 'Love remains the Same' by Gavin Rosdale played quietly throughout the apartment

I never thought that I had anymore to give
Pushing me so far
Here I am without you
Drink to all that we have lost
Mistakes we have made
Everything will change
But love remains the same

Chris ran his hands against the bookcase and slowly started walking down the hall towards the bed room. He pushed open the door and stepped inside. The bed was unmade, 3 pillows were laying on the floor.

Clearing his throat and shaking his head, he slowly started to make the bed. Pushing in the sheets and folding them down, just like he knew Zach liked them.
After placing the pillows on the bed he turned and faced the closet. Chris sighed and pulled open the door. Zach’s clothes were still hanging in order, the order Chris used to call “From ugly to uglier”
Reaching out, the young man, ran his hands through the clothing. He pulled out a purple and grey stripped cardigan and slipped it on.

Heading back out into the living room Chris sighed and lowered himself down on the couch.
He reached out and grabbed the book off the coffee table.

In just 1 hour they'll be
Laying flowers
On my life, it's over tonight
I'm not messing no I
Need your blessing
And your promise to live free
Please do it for me

He opened it to the marked page and his brain stalled. There in between page 198 and 199 was a picture of himself and Zachary, both mid laugh, as well as covered in Cake and beer. It had been taken a year before at John Cho's housewarming and someone had drunkenly started tossing pieces of the massive cake around the backyard. Chris has joined in and tossed a piece towards John but had accidentally hit Zach, who was passing by, in the head. Zachary retaliated by grabbing a nearby beer, shaking it and launching himself towards Chris dousing him in the Corona. John had grabbed him camera and told them both to look over. The picture was one of Chris's favorite. He had the same picture sitting on his dresser.

Closing the book and hugging it to his chest, Chris finally let the tears flow. He sobbed, and felt like a 4 year old child, but he didn’t care. He missed his best friend and had held back the tears for far to long. He grabbed the blanket of the back of the couch and lied down. The book still clutched in his hands.
It was only when he feel asleep that the tears stopped.
