displaying items

do you guys have any ideas of how to display your items when taking pictures of them? i want to find a way to make the pictures accentuate the product. for example if it is a bag, do you just have someone put the bag over her shoulder and take a pic? or do you hang it on something? or lay it down on a flat surface? i was thinking of maybe ( Read more... )

I try and model whatever it is I'm selling and take various close up to show stitching or any significant detail. I also make sure I use clear and cheerful photos and often prepare a border to make it more visually attractive.

oh, that is a good idea with the borders. and if i model them, they will look life sized. do you usually take pictures inside or outside? does the lighting matter?

It depends what I'm selling (I generally sell second hand clothes rather than things I have made). If it's a top that someone would wear in a club (haha like I own many of those!) I'd show it with inside light, same with anything black as sunlight washes it to grey. Colours and whites are often sunshine photos.

Having said that, I often end up using the pose that the nicest and shows it off the best and then take a close up photo to show the exact colours.
