Ah, your LJ won't let me post. Just wanted to say that poem is one of my favorites in Tolkien. Full of the melancholy/thoughtfulness of aging.

I've always thought that poem was one of the most hauntingly poignant ones Tolkien ever wrote. It always brings a lump to my throat.
