It's been annoying me recently how stupid these rich teenagers in Canada act, in spite of all our formal education. When I say rich, I mean like EVERYONE who reads this post and myself, because if you have money in the bank, money in your wallet, and some change in a container in your house, you are among the top 8% of the world's rich.

I think it's great that you realize it at an age where you could be just like the next person - spending huge bucks on brand names, etc.
But I think for many people it's a personal choice, I think that as long as you make that money yourself, at a job, it's your choice whether you would like to save it or blow it on something.

It is your choice no matter if you earn the money, get the money for free or whatever. All im saying is, in my opinion people who spend their money on short term things like clothes and restaurant food are acting stupidly in irresponsibly. But like you said, its their choice.

hm, as long as it makes youhappy.
never forget that we as human beings have a very short lifespan, so may as well enjoy it by indulging in things that make people happy. No that saving's wrong, as long as you don't save up a million and then realize one day that you're like 90 then it's like "shit"

short lifespan = 65 years
Restaurant meal = about 40 mins.
Clothing = As long as it fits you and stays in your style, usually about 1.5 years, less if you're vain Money in the bank = Infinite amount of time, even after you're dead. The money can be used by your relatives, by a charity, or on your funeral and burial.

I think you're right. It's just hard, when it's all so available (and probably not going to be taken away from us any time soon) to spend it on things that make life "easy"
But I guess i'll try doin that lunch thing : P helps my weight too :D

I see many flaws in your rant. I'd rather spend 100$+ on a quality pair of jeans than 20$ on a no-namer pair.

lol you can find a QUALITY pair of jeans for $20, at many outlet stores, especially if you're a girl. My friend is highly active, she plays ports and looks good in her Stitches, $15 jeans she bought last august.

Hahaha. This sounds like an ad for the jeans.

you have good points

I don't know what you think of how I spend my money

"because if you have money in the bank, money in your wallet, and some change in a container in your house, you are among the top 8% of the world's rich."
it's true. There's so many people out there with hardly anything at all (I know, I've seen it) and yet so many of us do nothing about it.

You (and everyone else) doesn't have to worry about what I think about their money management, especially since I'm partially guilty of it as well. As long as you're satisfied with where your money's going, then there's really no problem; you can ignore my opinion.

Fair enough. My personal experience is in most cases (all but one for me) you get exactly what you pay for. I personally think stiches, and most other outlet store clothing is the worst. Its shitty materials (very seldom do the materials vary; all low quality denim, cotton, and synthetics) and labor which means I get a pair of pants that won't stay pristine after the wear I put on it. Besides that its really not my taste. I'll spend on certain brand names because I know I'm getting my moneys worth because I always do with their clothing. Same goes with food. Quality grains, meats, juices, etc... are more expensive than cheap foods so although you're saving money by not paying the for the labor you're still consuming processed shit (empty carbs like sugar, preservatives, trans fats, dyes, dog vomit) which will enevitably make you gain weight ( ... )

Fair enough about the clothing; your choice.

However, you can NEVER justify restaurant food, because they make it out of the same stuff they sell at the grocery. You can buy fresh unprocessed meat, dairy, fruits/veggies and grains at the grocery, and make your own meals for less(and usually healthier).
Besides, you may be an exception, but most kids don't go out and by quality unprocessed health food with their money. They buy junk. Sometimes even veggie or "low in fat" junk.

By "low in fat" junk i mean stuff that says "just 6 grams of fat" but is high in cholesterol, glucose, MSG and trans fats.

You can indeed justify restaurant food.

1) someone doesn't have the skill or time to prepare (set up and clean up are also time consuming) the meal they are ordering.
2) depending on the restaurant you do get better quality foods served to you and in terms of what you're paying for the actual food it is roughly the same if you were to go out and buy it yourself since restaurants get a break on prices since they buy in volumes.
