Question for people who are more Twitter-literate than I: how on earth do you know whether links like, say, http://bit.ly/wrn24 don't turn out to lead you to hardcore Kazakh lemur porn?

If you're using a web browser you can get plugins that bring up a preview of the page or brief description when you hover over the link.

Yeah, but then you get Kazakh lemur porn in the preview. Or?

I guess. Get a plug in that displays the page title on hover?

You don't? The other link shortener site (can't remember its name right now) has a setting you can apply that makes it not automatically redirect. bit.ly could, maybe, have something similar?

Nope, it doesn't. Think you may be thinking of tinyurl.com. Which is five letters longer, presumably not ideal for kvitring.

That was the service I was thinking of. Hmm.
