I was waiting for it. I knew things weren't shitty enough to begin with, so there had to be one GIGANTIC shit waiting to occur at just the wrong moment. Well, it occured

I'm so sorry. I still remember when my Max died... he couldn't stand up, so I picked him up and took him to the emergency vet where they told me he would be okay. When I got home, they called and said that he had died.
I'M SO SORRY!! I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL. IF YOU REMEMBER I CRIED FOR DAYS..EVEN WEEKS AFTER MY BOOTS DIED. AND I WOULD SEE HER EVERYWHERE LIKE SHE WAS HAUNTING ME. AND I STILL MISS HER, BUT IT DOES GET BETTER. MY BEST WAY TO HEAL IS TO FIND ANOTHER ANIMAL THAT NEEDS A LOVING HOME AND SMOTHER IT WITH ATTENTION. THAT MAY NOT BE YOUR WAY, FIND WHAT WORKS BEST FOR YOU, BUT YOUR FRIENDS ARE HERE FOR YOU. LOVES.
hey sorry man, i knew it was coming and i knew it would have came any day now. he was old and had a lot of problems to begin with. i'm just glad that you did the right thing by putting him down. some people refuse to let go and fight nature to the last. boots was a big thing with jamie, so i did all i could to help her. i actually took off work to comfort her. it was weird not to see her - like you say, expecting to see an angry cat staring at me and wasn't there any more.
it's not something easily adjusted to, i'll admit. like any wound, it heals with time. the pain of missing him will always be there, but after you've mourned and let him go things do get better.
just let me know if there's something i can do to help out. i think there should be a proper send off this weekend when i'm in (i hope). i'm not certain what would be appropriate to honor such a pleasant and loyal animal, but i'm sure we can think of something suitable.
I'm sorry to hear that. My dog Jake is getting close to that point, and it hurts to even look at him as he gets older. I hope that things get better for you.
