Big Rude Jake - interesting mix of punk, soul, swing, and jazz, with really good lyrics and a lot of inspiration.
7 Shot Screamers - glam/punk/rockabilly from St. Louis. Really fun and interesting and also nice guys to drink with.
Great Big Sea - folksy Irish-influenced poppy music with a lot of harmony and some really fast singing.
Hasil Adkins - "The Haze", as he was known, lived in a shack in the hills of West Virginia and recorded over 5000 songs on a reel-to-reel recorder. Typical subject matter included chickens, hot dogs, and a date fantasy involving cutting off a girl's head and mounting it on the wall at the end of the evening. He released an entire album of songs about chickens, called "Poultry in Motion." It's very raw, very aggressive, amateur, outsider-art type stuff. The Haze was the Wesley Willis of his day.
