This is a variation on the well loved relationship meme. The characters in camp come from extremely different backgrounds and worlds, and view others through a lot of culture clash in regard to their own background. Comment to this meme so I can say how my characters deal with knowing yours, and how would they fit them into their own canons and

Shinn is a lot like Megumi back when she was younger, so she related a bit to him (not that she'd ever tell him that). I assume she sees him around camp in his ZAFT uniform, so disregarding that, she has no trouble fitting him into his age group back at her home. She'd like him more if he stopped shouting at her, but it doesn't bother her much as it is. That said, she probably wouldn't have been friends with him had he really been a classmate of her back home, since they're too similar for comfort, but she doesn't mind running into him occasionally in camp.

It's really easy for Soma to fit Yzak into her own canon, all thanks to their canons being Gundam series! That said, Yzak commands respect because of his rank, and unlike other people Soma's come to interact with, he's actually pretty easy to relate to. She feels at ease when there's a formal, military based relationship to deal with. Personally, Yzak is fairly close in age to Soma, and he doesn't try too hard to change her or get her to loosen up. That alone is encouraging her to form a normal relationship with him, or even friendship. He's one of the few people she feels at ease with, without any pressure coming from him.
Also, they have matching hair :Db

That said, Yuta is one of the few people who doesn't get on Saki's nerves, or doesn't lead to her spacing out. She slips into the big sister role only because having conversations with him in particular doesn't get her into one of the usual "Saki moods". He's like a friend's kid brother who's not a total brat, and can even go into the little friend category sooner or later. Saki does get bored with people, and there will be times when she nods and smiles absently, but the moments with Yuta where she goes, "Hey, you're cool to talk to," outweigh the spacing out moments.
