Remember my batshit insane boss? The one who has bought so much crappy jewelry from eBay in anticipation of opening an online store that the thousands of tiny bags have consumed her bedroom and forced her to sleep on the living room couch for the past six months, the one who twice in the past two weeks gave her credit card and personal information

so I'm crazier than Maya?
Haaaa, don't we know it. I worry that she's blown so much money on this endeavor, but I guess she's not ready to get serious yet.

Haha, she definitely puts Maya to shame.
She's still buying more stuff. Every time I go over her house, she's got a new shipment of crap. Sure, she's living with crackheads, but I don't think she realizes that shopping can be a dangerous addiction as well...

But the Katsucon thing? I hear ya. If I still lived in DC, I would continue to go, but not because of the con itself really, but for the dealer's room! And cosplaying too I guess. I love the dealer's room. I'm not-so-secretly a shopaholic.
I would recommend maybe trying out for staff? I found that really when I go to cons, most of the panels I am just not interested in and so I would be bored. Staffing is awesome for so many reasons. You get free admission, possibly a free hotel room, you get to help out, meet awesome people, get to cut in line at the events you do want to go to, etc... Registration and Security are probably the easiest ones to get into.

I've continued to go for several years of lackluster guests and programming because the dealer's room was really good, but that's gradually started to suck, too! Last year, there was hardly anything to buy that I couldn't get at the local mall.
I'd consider staffing at any con besides Katsu, I think! *laugh* I heard that last year was a real mess behind-the-scenes.

I bought nothing on Black Friday, but not by choice. A combination of overdue school work, financial situations and family apathy left me out of the rush. I tried to convince them, as I do EVERY YEAR, to leave their money/credit cards at home, grab a latte from Starbucks and camp out at WalMart just for the *%*$ of it XDDD.
I want to go to a campout on Black Friday with a notebook PC, projector and extended power supply and do anime showings for the people in line. And hand out pirate blue-rays.
I have other work to do! I have school! I have a life! I don't have time for this!Actually, you do. That's how you get into these traps! *admiral-ackbar* :P ( ... )

*laugh* Oh no, pulling Admiral Ackbar on me! Well, I have time to help her with the web design, but I don't have time to write several hundred flowery descriptions of overpriced jewelery.
Ahh, I looked into prototyping/custom printing for the cosplay industry too, but you're right, it's insanely expensive!
XD I like Sengoku Basara too, but the costumes from Samurai Warriors have more levels of fiddly little details. But cosplaying Keiji would require having a real live monkey to ride on your shoulder!

She is batshit. (And because of her, the minute I saw this, I thought of you ... .) I think you need to fire her.
>hugs<
Arrrghhh, isn't anyone I know going to Katsu? It's something I can actually plan for ... . I don't know if smilla will go either - the public transit out there isn't much good, and she wouldn't be able to slip back home to take care of her dog the way she did pevious years.

This is why I didn't major in computer science. Clients. End-users.
Well, I may or may not go - it depends on whether they announce decent guests. I guess it bugs me that they're no longer bothering to bill themselves as an "anime convention". Now they're a convention for "multicultural enthusiasts and entertainment." And it seems there was a lot of behind-the-scenes wank last year.
