I love my computer, it keeps me warm at night

My laptop's right hinge has snapped, rendering the machine impossible to close without pulling up a frightful amount of computer innards. D: Other than that, it's in pretty good shape for a 3 year old laptop, and since it was pretty powerful when I bought it, it's not horribly obsolete... so I don't really want to run out and buy another until ( Read more... )

But this one is really the only one with a decent screen size for photoshop and video editing all that... my other computers are either really small, or only suitable as emergency backups. I guess the clips aren't *that* bad. In the meantime, I guess I'll keep searching for replacement parts, although it seems that the only way to get them for this model is to buy a broken one on ebay.

The same thing happened to me, so I bought a bunch of laptop skin parts. From ebay. It wasn't so bad to reassemble everything, and I was able to change the cover to a more snappy red, so it felt worth it in the end.

You might be able to do the same thing and get it as good as new.

I thought about that, but with it being a somewhat strange OEM brand (Compal/Sager), I'm not sure what would fit without completely taking the thing apart. I know Compal makes a large percentage of the stuff that gets rebranded as Dell/HP/Toshiba/Compaq/whatever, but it's hard to figure out exactly what model numbers correspond.
