Yami was worried.

Long stints of work with Seto Kaiba were draining. Normally, if he let Mokuba sleep for about a day without disruption, things would be back to normal. He would have to sit through complaints about work and how difficult things were, but that was typically the end of it. At first Yami's instinct was to push and late that first day, he did. But Mokuba didn't reply to his sarcastic commentary; only looked him in the eyes, turned away and refused to be moved.

On the morning of the second day, just when Yami was getting up to prepare Mokuba's coffee, a cracked, gargled voice told him.

"I will literally vomit on you if you bring me coffee. Don't."

Which was an asshole thing to say, considering that the coffeemaker was set to brew every morning. Mokuba knew that - so the whole pot would be wasted. And Yami would be expected to get rid of it, of course. Why couldn't he have said something about that the night before?

So he decided to ease up on things a little. Yami hadn't realized how much he tended to put off on Mokuba, either. He would be the first to admit that he wasn't the easiest submissive to deal with, but the obvious hadn't occured to him. There were a lot of lurking... issues, and he didn't want to rely on Mokuba so much that he caused damage. Although it had been Yami's decision to cut back, he didn't want to stop everything all at once either.

It was selfish, but those small details about the day were all he had to keep him focused: Make coffee. Recite the devotional. Text at noon. Be ready at the door when Mokuba came home.

They were on day three, though, and Mokuba remained curled up in his covers. The only break in these long days were the occasional trip to the bathroom. When Yami called, there was no response. Mokuba ignored him, and that wasn't all - he didn't eat, wouldn't answer his phone, pretended that he was alone even when Yami laid right beside him. That was the most insulting thing. Part of it was a personal problem - he didn't like being ignored. It was similar to deciding
